The Building Of A Costco: Easton Columbus, Ohio
Costco Wholesale is working on building out their network of stores in the Mid-West. Another location that is slated to open in mid-October is the Easton Columbus, Ohio Store.
This will be the second Costco coming to Columbus, Ohio area. It is being built in a shopping complex called the Easton Gateway. It will be located just off of the I270 on Morse Road and Stelzer Road. The sign for the Easton Gateway says ‘Coming 2014’ but if the online rumors are correct, the Easton store will be opening as early as October of 2013.
By the looks of what is going on at the construction site, I believe that they are well under way. While they don’t have a ‘Costco Coming Soon’ sign up and installed yet, they do have two of them leaning up against the Costco management trailer.
Normally I would have gotten a lot better pictures of the area, but the entire construction site is locked down tighter than Fort Knox. It is surrounded by a large fence and wherever there is an entrance, there is some form of a gate. That is the complete opposite of the future Green Bay Bellevue Costco location. You could walk right onto that construction site if you so desired, same for the future Lexington Costco location.
There is currently a lot of signage for Novak construction, which has build a lot of the more recent Costco’s that have opened up across the Mid West.
While this is going to be a massive shopping complex, I am amused that they are building right across the street from a Sam’s Club. I am sure Costco is convinced that they will have a nice majority of Sam’s members moving over to the new Costco. Hey, maybe some Sam’s members will keep two wholesale club memberships.
I believe this is going to be a very popular location. In the surrounding area there is a ton of high end department stores. Just blocks away you have Macy’s, Nordstrom, and a bunch of other stores in the Easton Mall. While I was in the area, it was mid afternoon and there was a ridiculous amount of traffic in the area. I can only imagine the traffic when the Easton Gateway Costco opens, because it is going to create a greater traffic disaster.
With the Costco Coming Soon signs for the Easton Columbus, Ohio already on site, I would bet those will go up in just a short few weeks or even days.
If you have any questions about this coming soon Costco, or any Costco please don’t hesitate to post in the comments below.
